It’s no secret that our tap water may contain bacteria, parasites, heavy metals and chlorine, so it is no surprise that people are turning to home water purifiers that can remove most of these harmful substances and micro-organisms. Distillation produces very clean, pure water, which is perfect for drinking, cooking, soaking and so on. Here is some helpful information on the how distilled water can help you.
Distillation is the process of heating water (boiling) to produce steam. The steam is then cooled and condensed back into its original form. The process is very simple and happens every day in nature, but what are the benefits of distilling water?
Because the water is boiled at 100⁰C harmful bacteria and parasites cannot survive. Furthermore, a lot of chemicals, heavy metals and other pollutants, which cannot travel with the steam, are simply left behind. Any remaining substances are then filtered through a charcoal filter that comes standard with every water distiller for the home. So not only can you make the purest water at home, but it will only cost you about 6 cents a litre.
Here is a practical example of the savings you can have over the next 2 years. This includes purchasing the distiller and maintenance with filters and cleaning (based on 5 litre water consumption per day):
| 1st Year | |
| WaterWise 4000 | Noble Water Ultra Pure |
| $600 | $1650 |
| 2nd Year | |
| WaterWise 4000 | Noble Water Ultra Pure |
| $210 | $1650 |
That’s a saving of over $2400 in 2 years.
Now there have certainly been some heated debates as to whether distilled water leeches minerals from the body, but whether it leeches only the harmful inorganic minerals or both inorganic and organic minerals, no one seems to know for sure. So here is what we recommend. It is actually very simple (and beneficial) to add minerals to your water that will not only prevent this leeching process altogether, but aid your body in its never ending quest for these necessary nutrients. Simply add a tiny pinch (or even less) of Celtic Sea Salt to your water – the water shouldn’t taste salty at any point, but even if it does, it will only increase the benefit, but most people don’t like the taste of salty water. If you don’t like the idea of Celtic Salt, then you can always purchase some plant based minerals and add those to your water and this will quickly and easily solve the so-called leeching problem. Don’t forget that your body is about 70% water, so you want to drink an absolute minimum of 1 litre per day.
